At the end of the Cinque Terre National Park lies the Gulf of La Spezia, also known as the Gulf of Poets due to the many poets, writers, and artists in general who have spent periods of residency there.
The pearls of the gulf are certainly Portovenere and Lerici.
Portovenere is located at the western end of the gulf, towards the Cinque Terre. In addition to visiting the town, with spectacular views over the entire gulf and the coast of the Cinque Terre, it is nice to take a boat tour of the islands in front, Palmaria, the largest, Tino, and Tinetto. Portovenere can be reached from Levanto by boat (1 hour and 50 minutes of navigation), by car (about 1 hour passing through the highway), or by train (getting off at La Spezia and then continuing by bus).
Opposite Portovenere, but on the other side of the gulf, lies Lerici, from whose castle you can enjoy a beautiful view of the Gulf of Poets and the islands. Lerici can be reached by boat from Portovenere or by car (about 30 minutes) following the coastal road from Portovenere. If you use a car, park it at the La Vallata parking lot https://maps.app.goo.gl/kXE3vsog6JDqo4T97 and walk along the seaside promenade from the charming village of San Terenzo to Lerici, with beaches and beach resorts.
